will you wait?

I opened the Word this morning, and it was so life-giving! Last week I was a little sketch on consistency and my time with Jesus. And that might explain my attitude, and focus and discombobulation of my emotions last week. Yuck! I am shutting the chapter on that. This morning, I chose to get back up and plug in to my life-line. So dwellers-get back up and let’s do this! 💪🏻
There is so much packed into chapter 5 of second Samuel that we may just camp out here all week. I don’t want to miss one morsel of all God has for us.

In 2 Samuel 2-4 we read about David’s anointing in Hebron. He gently and humbly stepped into the role the Lord was leading him into. For 6-7 years David served only one tribe of Israel. He resisted forcing his way to the top and followed the direction God was giving Him.
So he slowly and methodically shepherded the people of Hebron and waited. He waited 7 years.
After Abner, Saul’s loyal military leader died, something amazing happens. The leaders of other tribes of Israel came to David IN Hebron. And what did they confess? Hey David-all along we’ve known it was you. You were the one God chose to lead Israel.
Let’s think about this:
All the tribes of Israel heard Saul proclaim David’s anointed role as King. All the tribes of Israel said-hey-we remember when you led the army of the nation of Israel back in your 20’s.
We knew…
Did the nation of Israel demonstrate this knowledge when David was in the wilderness? Did the nation of Israel show allegiance to what they knew in their souls was the true king of Israel when David ruled one tribe in Hebron? Nope. The nation of Israel came to David only when Saul dies, and the awful Abner dies. Stubbornly they followed evil, when they knew in their spirit who the true ruler was.
I love the simple fact that David didn’t run to the nations seeking and demanding the crown he knew was rightly his. He patiently waited through wandering and winding, in great need, in homelessness, and with absolutely no earthly riches. He waited for God and his timing to soften the hearts of the tribes, dismantle the previous evil leadership, and he aligned himself with the will of God to step into his earthly leadership as anointed King of Israel.

Dwellers. I encourage you to stop chasing your crown. Start running after the King of Kings and wait. Wait for God to bring all of your heavenly promises to your doorstep. Wait for Him to crown you and anoint you and release all He has spoken to you in your wandering, homelessness, and poverty. He will. Just wait in humble expectancy.

Will you wait?

Studying God's word and teaching for transformation are two of my favorite things. And there is no place better to study than with my sistas! I am most grateful for my salvation, and relationship with Jesus, for the incredible Godly man I have covenanted with, and the four beautiful daughters we get to raise together.
